EARL THORFINN
built in 1928 by Hall Russell, Aberdeen, Yard No 694, for Orkney Steam Navigation Company Ltd. Launched on 22.3.28 and completed in May of that year. Passenger/cargo vessel of 345 GRT, LBP 150' 7", Beam 27' 3" Single screw powered by a turbine engine, service speed 10 knots. She was employed on the inter-island services, based in Kirkwall, for the whole of her career from 1928 to 1962 when she and her sister Earl Sigurd (1931) were replaced by the new ship Orcadia, joined later by the cargo ship Islander. Earl Thorfinn was broken up at Bo'ness in March 1963.
