MANX MAID was completed by Cammell Laird at Birkenhead in 1962 for the Isle of Man Steam Packet Co and was their first car ferry. These were side loaded as opposed to through the stern.
She lasted until the end of the summer season in 1984 when she was sold for scrap at Garston near Liverpool.
In the summer months, IOMSPCo ships could be seen on the Clyde at Ardrossan taking Scots to the popular Isle of Man holiday destination pre-cheap foreign holidays.
By 1984 when I took this, sadly MANX MAID/S last season also there were few travellers from Ardrossan to Douglas.
