The first and for a long while only,containership to be Clyde built was this for Overseas Containers Ltd.Her sisters were German built and this was a prestigious order for the newly formed Upper Clyde Shipbuilders.Unfortunately delays were to dog her progress causing much controversy and damage to Clyde shipbuilding.
However,this was still to come as she took to the water on 3rd April 1969.
For the record,the ship on the adjacent berth is the Reardon Smith bulker CORNISH CITY which was due for launching two weeks hence.
