The TAMAHINE owned by the Union Steam Ship Company is seen departing Wellington for Picton during the 1950s. Built in 1925, she had a length of 279 feet.She could carry up to 625 passengers and 36 cars on deck. The "TAM" had a service speed of 16 knots.
She was replaced in 1962 by the ARAMOANA NZ's first rail ferry.
