Portuguese 2nd class sloop NRP JOÃO DE LISBOA (J de L), imo 6110242/ 70,5m/ 1.238dt/ 2xMAN diesel 2.400hp/ 16,59kn/ twin screw/ complement 140/ 1937 completed by Arsenal de Marinha (NavyÂ’s shipyard), Lisbon, for Portuguese Navy; 1944 modernized; 1961 converted to hydrographic ship; Armament: 2x120mm guns, 4x40mm guns, 2xthrowers for depth charges; 17/08/1966 decommissioned and sold to ETE – Empresa de Tráfego e Estiva, Lisbon, who converted her as a Tagus estuary lighter; 1989 scrapped at Alhos Vedros, Tagus river. Sister-ship NRP PEDRO NUNES. They were designed to operate in the overseas territories of Portugal.
