Built in Denmark. Keel was laid the 5 April 1940 in the Aalborg Waerft Yard and launched the next year.
In WWII this ship was used by the Germans during the occupation of Denmark and damaged by aviation raids.

Reconditionned and delivered to Chile arriving the 2 May 1946.

In 1956 she was sent to Germany and in the Deutche Verit in Hamburg, her boilers were modified, rendering them apt to burnt fuel oil instead of charcoal.

This was the Ensign Ship in the First Antarctic Expedition, to the Chilean Antarctic Territory in 1946, she was decommisioned the 7 December 1967
