Portuguese naval school bark NRP SAGRES (3), imo 6110354/ 89m/ 1.869gt,launched 30/10/1937 Blohm & Voss, Hamburg, as ALBERT LEO SCHLAGTER for Kriegsmarine. During WW2 hit a mine while in a troopship mission in Baltic Sea, and proceeded to Bremerhaven for repairs.1945 seized by US forces. She was purchased 1948 by Brazil and incorporated in the Navy as GUANABARA;1962 Portugal bought her to continue the mission of her predecessor the NRP SAGRES(II).Both Portuguese vessels worldly known by the famous Religious Order of Christ Crosses seen on the sails, like the Portuguese discovery caravels of the XV century. Her nautical, construction qualities were so extraordinary that Deutche Bundes Marine, as well as her 4 sister-vessels Horst Vessel (Eagle),Gorck Foch (Tovarisch) and Mircea, had its vessel Gorck Foch built in 1958 according same plans.
