The boilers were located aft the engine rooms (see GA Plan) on a flat. The steam was superheated at a temperature of 950 deg. F (510 C) . Each of the main boilers had a normal evaporation of 175000 lb (~ 79400 kg) per hour and a maximum evaporation of 260000 lb (~118000 kg) per hour. The steam pressure was 750 lb per sq. inch (5.2 MPa) at a temperatture of 960 deg F 515.5 C) with a feed temperature of 240 deg F (115.5 C) . The auxiliary boiler was feeding steam at the same pressure but with a normal evaporation of 40000lb (18150 kg) per hour and a maximum evaporation of 50000 lb (22700 kg) per hour.
